Throughout time people have been collectors of items that have value to them whether it’s intrinsic or keepsake.  Hobby and enjoyment are the reason they collect. They accumulate. People often seek out objects that bring them pleasure. There are those who collect compulsively. However, many people do so for reasons unique unto them.  The objects they choose to keep hold intrigue to the collector.

Collections vary widely from sea glass, stamps, Depression glass, figurines, automobiles, guitars, you name it and someone most likely collects it.  I used to collect red and white glass in the likes of Spode and Nymolle.  Over time, friends and family would pick up pieces and give them to me for my “collection.”   This was all very good and kind and thoughtful on their part.  But alas to me, the true joy of collecting is in the hunt, more than in amassing the most items. I have since “quit” collecting red and white glass.

I have a new passion – sometimes I think it borders on obsession, but I do enjoy it. Now I collect books, erotica mainly.  The classics, anthologies, how-tos, new novels and writers from around the world, I have a variety and enjoy them immensely.  For instance, the Collector notion came about from the Delta of Venus.  Anais Nin wrote this.  She began writing erotica for a dollar per page for private collectors.  Now there’s innovation and a woman after my own heart.
